AWARE PROJECT

Social media has a significant influence on the ideas, attitudes, and values of young people. Content related to mental health and mental illnesses, such as depression or anxiety disorders, plays a particularly important role in this regard. It influences how young people perceive mental illness, what they think about it, and how they feel about it themselves.

About the Project

How often do young people encounter content related to mental illness on social media, and how often do they search for it specifically? What motivates them to view this content, and how do they interpret what they find there?

The AWARE project explores these questions. It examines how young people come into contact with content about mental health on social media, what motivates them to do so, and how they deal with it. The focus is on how this constant presence shapes their perceptions of mental illness, influences their attitudes, and relates to their own mental well-being.
