#Therapytok: Radio X Basel Interview with Dr. Sophie Mayen and Dora Weubel

In a recently aired radio interview, Dr. Sophie Mayen and doctoral candidate Dora Weubel were interviewed about the growing discourse around #Therapytok. The two researchers emphasize that mental health content on social media needs to be viewed in a differentiated way: on one hand, it can inform and destigmatize; on the other, it also has the potential to distort facts. Given its omnipresence on social media and its often simplified yet visually appealing presentation on these platforms, this content can also lead to the romanticization of mental illness. This in turn carries the risk that adolescents self-diagnose too quickly.
